Mark Kalen is an Austin artist new to the scene.  The jewelry he creates is sophisticated with an edge.

In designing jewelry, my primary goal is to achieve a sense of classic beauty combined with a visual interest that is striking within each piece.  It is important to me to provide imagery that generates thought, creates a yearning for more.  To realize this objective, my latest collection includes a collage of textures combined to provide multiple layers of various size and unique shapes.

Stainless steel provides great challenges to an artist due to its strength, however the result is a piece that will truly stand the test of time.  SS holds a depth of color that does not exist in any other metal.  I find it very satisfying to create these small pieces of art that excite and endure.  – Mark Kalen
